Marriage Tourism in Palm Springs
In a historic ruling, California's Supreme Court issued a decision on May 15th, 2008 that effectively lifted a ban on gay marriage. The ruling leaves same-sex couples in California and throughout the United States free to tie the knot. The City of Palm Springs should act quickly to develop a strategy for attracting prospective same-sex couples to this community for weddings and honeymoons. A short-term strategy for capitalizing on immediate demand should be developed within the next 30 days. A longer-term strategy establishing Palm Springs as the LGBT wedding capital of the United States should also be developed from best practices over the next 12 months.
