Brian Rix, Senior Partner
Brian Rix started his career as an attorney and quickly moved into show business. He was one of the founding partners of Joseph, Heldfond & Rix, Inc. one of the largest talent agencies in the commercial arena. Brian paired Mariette Hartley for Polaroid, Mark Harmon with Coors and Patrick Swayze with Pepsi. He represented John Travolta in a multi-million dollar deal with Dentsu Advertising in Japan. After selling the agency Brian went on to produce feature films Sioux City with Lou Diamond Phillips and Precious Find with Rutger Hauer and Joan Chen.
For the past 12 years, Brian has been involved with fundraising, marketing and special events as the founder of Rix Bradford Consulting. He has done extensive work in the educational, corporate and political arenas.
Brian’s education clients have included both the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles Community College District. With Superintendent and former Colorado Governor Roy Romer, Rix was responsible for raising over 6 million dollars for three school construction bonds. All three passed resulting in over 12 billion dollars in local school construction.
Brian has also been very active with the Community College system. He assisted Chancellor Mark Drummond in passing two large construction bonds. The first was in 2005 for 1 billion dollars and the second passed last November for 3.5 billion. For the last four years he has run the Foundation for the 9 campus LACCD system which has raised and given out more than 3 million dollars in student scholarships.
Brian worked statewide with the Community College System doing the statewide fundraising for Proposition 92 on the February, 2008 ballot. He created and implemented the Chancellors Circle for the State Chancellor which was a statewide community college marketing group.
Brian has also had extensive experience in the event planning and hospitality industry having produced hundreds of events. He has been under contract to both LA,Inc., the Convention and Visitors Bureau and the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau. He was tapped by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to produce his inaugural ball, one of the largest political events in Los Angeles history. The event raised over 2 million dollars for LA’s Best after school program. The event was a dinner for 1,500 people with a performance by Natalie Cole.
In June of 2007, Brian produced the US Conference of Mayors for Mayor Villaraigosa and LA, Inc. He raised over 1.8 million dollars and produced four huge consecutive evening events, one featuring a performance by Melissa Etheridge. Rix also managed the entire 1.8 million dollar budget and negotiated the contracts with all of the venues, caterers and other sub-contractors.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Political Science and Radio/TV/Film from California State University Long Beach. He also holds a law degree from University of San Diego.
